Helping Pharmacists Apply Evidence to Practice
Academic Detailing Rx is a joint effort of the Academic Detailing Service (ADS) of Dalhousie Continuing Medical Education, the Drug Evaluation Alliance of Nova Scotia (DEANS) and Dalhousie Continuing Pharmacy Education. The objective of this program is to create and deliver educational programs for pharmacists based on the content of the ADS initiatives. These educational programs will be delivered in a variety of formats (live face-to-face sessions, live web-based online presentations, and posting of content on the Dalhousie College of Pharmacy CPE website) to optimize access for all pharmacists in the province.
Dalhousie CME Academic Detailing Service researches and develops evidence-based educational messages on specific topics, which they then detail to family physicians throughout Nova Scotia. Topics are selected in a variety of ways: physician surveys, publication of new national guidelines, initiation of a provincial initiative, or important new clinical developments may prompt the development of an academic detailing topic.
To support pharmacist and physician collaboration, and to facilitate consistent messages being delivered to patients, the Drug Evaluation Alliance of Nova Scotia (DEANS) has partnered with Dalhousie Continuing Pharmacy Education to bring the messages of the Academic Detailing Service to pharmacists in Nova Scotia.
Dalhousie CPE is grateful for the support of Dalhousie CME Academic Detailing Service and DEANS in helping to create this opportunity for Nova Scotia pharmacists.
